Course Outline 

This course enables students to develop visual skills,  knowledge and understanding of a wide range of Art, Media and Processes.  Engaging with the creative process of Art, Craft and Design, experimenting, developing and refining ideas.  These will always include drawing, but also include a range of techniques and processes:  painting, printing, collage, photography (digital), digital work, mixed media and sculpture.  The environment will encourage independent learners and risk takers.

Units include: 

• Component 1: Internally set comprising of supporting studies, practical work and a personal study - 60%

• Component 2: Externally set comprising of  preparatory studies and the 15 hour period of sustained focus - 40%

Assessment 

Assessment is ongoing throughout the two years by the teacher, then externally moderated

This qualification prepares students for a wide range of careers in the following sectors, 3D Design, Fashion, Fine Art, Graphics, Illustration, Textiles,  Advertising, Animation, Curation, Theatre Design and more. This qualification will also provide valuable skills essential to further art education, and transferable to life post-education.
