Year sevens and year nine were delighted to see Nathanael Lessore in January. The author of the hugely successful books,  winners of national and regional awards over the last two years, Steady for This, King of Nothing and What Happens Online.

Nathanael gave an overview of his books, their topical themes featuring very engaging, laugh out loud, humorous scenes, (some of which have been read by year seven, some of year eight last year and some of year nine this year).

His experience growing up on a Peckham council estate informed a lot of the hilarious scenarios featured throughout his books while at the same time, dealing with some very serious modern issues.  It was a very interesting presentation on his route to becoming a successful author and he answered over twenty insightful questions from the audience.

Several lucky year sevens were invited to a writing workshop in the library where Nathanael gave his professional feedback on all their stories which ranged from fantasy and manga themes to real life street scenes. The dialogue and narrative in the stories written using the five senses were exemplary and Nathanael was most impressed with the students’ ability. The lucky winner, Emilia won his latest World Book Day book.
