Course Outline 

The IT industry is an exciting and constantly changing one with a wide range of opportunities. Employers are willing to pay people with strong IT skills and knowledge a lot of money and this course is ideal for those wishing to pursue a career in the IT industry. Additionally this course is designed to complement other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of degree courses, not necessarily in IT. It is an Extended Certificate equivalent to 1 A Level. 

In this course students study the relationship between hardware and software, managing and communicating information and data, and the principles of designing and developing digital technologies and processes to support organisations across these units: 

Units include: 

• Information Technology Systems 

• Creating Systems to Manage Information 

• Using Social Media in Business 

• Website development 

Assessment 

Assessment is ongoing throughout the two years and includes assignments, presentations and other portfolio based evidence, as well as two externally assessed units.

This course is widely accepted as an entrance qualification to study a range of courses at university. It is particularly suitable as a subject for those considering careers in IT, Media, Project Management, IT support, Business and Software development.
