The Curriculum
At Lilian Baylis Technology School we constantly review the curriculum in order to ensure that our students have access to the most relevant courses available. We have recently introduced BTEC Business Studies, GCSE Animation and BTEC Engineering so that students can study for qualifications in subjects they expect to study at University.
Key Stage 3
All students follow the National Curriculum in:

- Design Technology (Food, Electronics, Textiles & Resistant Materials)
- Drama
- English
- Geography
- History
- Information Communication Technology (ICT)
- Mathematics
- Modern Foreign Languages
- Music
- Citizenship and Personal, Social & Health Education
- Physical Education
- Religious Education
- Science
In Y7 and Y8 History, Geography, Religious Eductaion, Citizenship and Personal, Social & Health Education are taught as part of a combined course called 'Opening Minds' supported by the Royal Society for the Arts (RSA).
Key Stage 4
Students follow a common curriculum in:
- GCSE Citizenship
- GCSE English
- GCSE Mathematics
- Personal, Social & Health Education
- Junior Sports Leader Award in PE
- GCSE Religious Studies
- GCSE Applied or Double Science
In addition to these compulsory subjects students can choose up to four of the following option subjects. The school usually offers:

The school also arranges for students to take a GCSE in any additional language in which they are familiar. Students have recently taken GCSE’s in Bengali, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, Urdu and Arabic. Students are provided with support and additional lessons before the exam.
