Students require a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 6 or above (or equivalent), including English, and Mathematics, and be a native speaker of the language being studied.
By studying A Level French or Spanish you will:
- Learn to read, write and communicate orally in your chosen language.
- Get to know another country in depth through the exploration of topics linked to its contemporary society and its cultural values.
- Absorb the skills that will help make you into the active shapers of an increasingly globalised world.
Assessment (AS Level):
At AS Level students sit both a written paper, a comprehension paper and a 20 minute spoken exam.
Into the future …
Language graduates are highly sought-after professionals. Languages combine perfectly with a wide range of subjects at degree level and further, and are highly regarded complements to a scientific career.
We strongly recommend that any student who has lived abroad and has become fluent in a language should convert this experience into a supplementary AS or A-level qualification.
