Physical Education

    The aim of Physical Education (PE) at LBTS is to give students a wide range of opportunities to learn about the physical, social and mental benefits of exercise and all students in Y7-11 take PE.

    In Years 7 and 8 the focus is on skill acquisition and the application of tactics in a range of sports including gymnastics, athletics, football, netball, dance, rugby, basketball, cricket, rounders, softball, handball, badminton and trampolining. Students also study health related exercise which focuses on key skills that underpin the BTEC and VCERT courses offered in Year 9-11.

    In Years 9-11 students can choose to take VCERT health and fitness or BTEC Sport. Those who have not chosen these courses will study for a the Sports Leaders Level 2 award.

    We also offer a range of after school activities for mixed and single sex groups

    The school has a purpose built sports hall, 3 basketball/netball courts, an indoor and outdoor gym and a floodlit Astroturf pitch (The Field of Dreams).

    A number of ex students have achieved sporting excellence at LBTS including Blaine Ridge-Davies​ (BMX) and Ryheem Sheckleford (football). Lilian Baylis recently won the South London Football Cup U16 trophy!
